Roger Ebert spills the details on the destruction his show's old set

When illness prevented Roger Ebert from doing the movie review show he had done since 1982, everyone knew that change was inevitable. But no one could have predicted this much change, not even Ebert.

The Chicago Sun-Times movie critic and original host of At The Movies with his longtime partner Gene Siskel talked about how producers completely remade the show.

The changes ranged from the show's hosts down to the famous balcony set that the studio "tore at our set with sledge-hammers, and it collected in a dumpster in the alley."

Was Zobelle's kiss just a kiss?

There was another observation from the last episode of Sons of Anarchy that I noticed, or maybe I just didn't want to acknowledge that I noticed it.

Just before Clay, Jax and company finally move in on Ethan Zobelle's cigar store for what will presumably be their final kill, Ethan and his daughter share an uncomfortably long kiss.

Granted these two think they are going to have their brains splattered against the walls by their scorned enemies and are in fear of their ever-loving lives, but the kiss they shared seemed to suggest that something else might be going on between then. So...

Did the kiss between Zobelle and his daughter mean anything?

Right now on Cinematical

The folks at our sister site Cinematical are working hard to give you news and reviews of the best -- and worst -- the silver screen has to offer. Here are some of their musings on the latest blockbusters, indies, and everything in between:
  • There's a new website called Glyde that lets you buy and sell DVDs quite easily. Now you can get rid of all of those ill-advised Zac Efron purchases that you're hanging on to.
  • Viggo Mortensen is getting ready to star in The Road, the adaptation of the Cormac McCarthey novel. He has some crazy eyes in that movie, which could either be a big plus or a big minus, depending on your stance on the hotness level of dudes with crazy eyes. In any case, Cinematical has an interview with him.
  • I actually had no idea that there was going to be a fourth Shrek movie, but apparently it is, and it's titled Shrek Forever After. It's supposed to be the last film in the series... for now, at least.
  • I was never going to see Old Dogs, but the fact that I was forced to sit through billions of trailers for it while watching ABC On Demand makes me want to find every print and make a giant bonfire. A brave soul at Cinematical reviews it.
  • Fight Club is the film that finally made me love Brad Pitt. Cinematical rewatches it to see how it holds up after ten years.

Subtle Subtitles: Katie Couric

If you haven't seen our game before, we give you a picture from a recent episode of a TV series and you provide the caption!

Last week's winner is Shawn Jones with this: "Back off! When Oprah steps down I got this."

This week's picture is Katie Couric dancing! They're from a party in Couric's honor after she got the CBS Evening News gig a few years ago but were just recently posted on Gawker (and Facebook).

What's Adam West watching?

It's funny how Adam West has had a post-Batman career making fun of himself and creating some memorable characters in the world of animation, especially his work as, well, Adam West on Family Guy. There's no mistaking that voice. In this clip below the flesh-and-blood West urges us to watch the FOX Sunday night animation lineup.

Arms are the only things moving in these Schweppes Christmas commercials

I'm a big fan of illustrations of the 1950s so I might find these British Schweppes ads more amusing than some people. But I like how it's just a few arms in the illustrations that are moving in the ads. Clever idea.

One last Thanksgiving post: Jimmy Fallon writes his thank you notes

So we've hopefully recovered from stuffing ourselves with turkey and pie and wine yesterday, but I wanted to post one last thing about Thanksgiving. This is from Late Night. Jimmy Fallon usually does his "thank you notes" on Fridays but he wanted to do a special version for Turkey Day.
